Marit Granhaug, the coordinator of TRONDBUSS, a US-Norway educational program will be visiting our campus April 10-12. Since 2013, TRONDBUSS has provided four offerings of a 5-week study abroad program at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). This program “Introduction to Biomedical Laboratory Sciences” (MolGen 5797, 3 credit hours) aims to provide fundamentals of laboratory techniques used for the analysis of human samples and an introduction to genome sequencing in clinical practice with a particular focus on the practical and ethical challenges arising from the use of this technique in the medical diagnosis of patients. Thirty-nine OSU students participated in this study abroad program in years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022. In addition, TRONDBUSS is now offering individual and independent research experiences (3 months) in selected host laboratories at NTNU for degree-seeking undergraduates and graduated undergraduates. The research internships are paid and participants will earn credit at OSU. The first contingent of three students will be traveling this coming Summer.
