Dr. Wenbo Li obtained his PhD degree from the National University of Singapore, where he studied long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and enhancer RNAs (eRNAs). In 2009, he joined the group of Michael Rosenfeld at UC San Diego, where he continued to study the role of eRNAs in modulating chromosomal architecture and gene regulation in response to hormone manipulation in breast cancer. For his work in the Rosenfeld lab, he was awarded a Department of Defense Breast Cancer Program Post-doctoral fellowship, and published lead author manuscripts in Molecular Cell and Nature, and co-authored manuscripts in Cell, PNAS, Nature, and Nature Neuroscience. His current research plans include dissecting further the role of distal enhancer elements and their associated eRNAs in gene regulation and chromosomal structure, as well as understanding the 3-dimensional arrangement of chromatin that facilitates gene regulation in normal and malignant cells.
