“Large-scale regulation of meiotic chromosomes”

Dr. Rog studies how chromosomes integrate information to understand the mechanistic basis of chromosome organization, structure and function, primarily through the study of meiosis in C. elegans.  Rog’s research seeks to uncover the mechanisms by which chromosomes integrate genetic information on local and large scales during meiosis. Two main research questions in the Rog lab are: 1) What are the mechanisms that allow a conserved liquid condensate that assembles at the interface of the parental chromosomes to regulate genetic information exchanges; 2) how are meiotic chromosomes organized to ensure the fidelity of exchanges? Rog’s research program is well-funded by both NIH (MIRA) and NSF. Rog has published in top tier journals such as, Current Biology, eLife, and PNAS. Dr. Rog was awarded the Genetics Society of America Early Career Medal in 2024.
