Anita Hopper was recognized by the Ohio State University Board of Trustees for her appointment as Distinguished University Professor at the August Board Meeting. 

In his introduction, Provost Ravi V. Bellamkonda said "Professor Hopper’s career is inspiring, and her contributions to our understanding of RNA are profound...I am proud of her remarkable dedication to Ohio State and the scientific community through her prolific research, teaching excellence and commitment to nurturing new generations of scientist-scholars."

In her remarks, Anita spoke of her dedication to state institutions of higher learning, which allowed her to grow from a first generation college student to a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences. She also emphasized the importance of fundamental research as the bedrock of knowledge and innovation.
