Another prestigious award for Christin Burd
We are delighted to announce that only weeks after receiving the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, Christin Burd was honored again with the Early Career Distinguished Scholar Award in a surprise announcement!
The Distinguished Scholar Award is among the highest annual honors The Ohio State University bestows on a faculty member in recognition of outstanding scholarly activity, research or creative works. The Early Career Distinguished Scholar Award annually honors just three assistant or early associate professors who show promise of making significant contributions to Ohio State and their field for years to come. Dr. Burd’s research focuses on identifying mechanisms to prevent melanoma and improve clinical outcomes in older adults with cancer. She is among a small group of researchers world-wide with a background in both the basic biology and clinical application of aging science in cancer populations. As one of her colleagues states "“I can say without hesitation that Dr. Burd is one of the top researchers in her field in the nation. Her accomplishments as a scientist in such as short amount of time are nothing short of incredible and there is no doubt that her program will continue to make seminal contributions to both foundational biology but also translational medicine.”
