First BioEYES Festivals of 2024!

Barrington Elementary School students

We hosted two BioEYES Festivals on January 22nd for Barrington Elementary School students. Fourth graders visited the Ohio State Campus to follow up on their fall in-classroom BioEYES experience with additional hands-on science activities. With the help of OSU undergraduates (Charles Franz, Isa Gangadin, Kamorah Ryhlick, and Natalie Swan), graduate students (Clare Austin, Delia Calderon, Caleb Embree, Anna Lubertozzi, and Nels O'Connell), postdoc Rene Arvola, and faculty/staff (Sharon Amacher, Lihua Ye, Nikki Coleman Gosser, Tom Gallagher, Mariah Lesar, and Danielle Pvirre), these junior scientists toured the fish facility, viewed live fluorescent zebrafish embryos, worm embryos, and fruit fly larvae under a microscope, did Punnett square genetics, and learned how to decode DNA messages!

We are so proud of the Department and OSU community members who are generous with their time supporting this outreach program!
