Molecular Genetics, with generous support from the ASC Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice, hosted an all-day Graduate Student Professional Development Workshop on Friday, December 13, 2024. Morning sessions focused on mentoring, microaggression, and crafting resumes, CVs, and IDPs. A highlight of the day was the afternoon panel focused on non-academic scientific careers that featured six OSU PhD alumni participants, Drs Kara Braunreiter, Douglas Cheung, Xiangnan Guan, Marsha Lucas, Andrea McCue, and Dwitiya Sawant. The workshop concluded with a networking session, attended by over 90 people, that facilitated informal discussions with the panelists and with representatives from several local biotech companies. More than 85% of the attendees indicated that the event was helping for their training and future goals and almost 95% indicated that they were interested in attending similar future events.
