Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Hamel Lab international researchers highlighted by OIA

Ardak Kakimova, Sandugash Sandybayeva and Yelena Zaparina in the Hamel lab

Patrice Hamel's lab is interested in the topic of membrane biogenesis, in particular membrane systems in chloroplasts and mitochondria that are specialized in the transduction of energy. In recent years he has been active in a multidisciplinary initiative focused on the engineering of photosynthetic microbes to produce next-generation biofuels. This month, three international researchers in his lab were highlighted by the Office of International Affairs for their ongoing contributions to clean energy research.

In addition to supporting research in the lab these sciences are furthering the goals of the STILSA (Students in Life Sciences Abroad) program he developed. The program provides students with curriculum-centered travel experiences.
