Highland, Cranbrook, and Lindbergh Elementary Schools visit OSU for three BioEYES field trips in May!
We hosted fifth graders from three different Columbus elementary schools for 2-hour field trips to follow up on their fall in-classroom BioEYES experience. With the help of OSU undergraduates Charles Franz, Amanda Jay, Dilshodbek Nishonov, and Katlyn Saunders, graduate students Clare Austin, Caleb Gooden, Nels O’Connell, and Ben Pastore, postdocs Rene Arvola and Gina Nostromo, and faculty/staff Sharon Amacher, Nikki Coleman-Gosser,Tom Gallagher, and Danielle Pvirre, these junior scientists toured the fish facility, viewed live fluorescent zebrafish embryos, worm embryos, and fruit fly larvae under a microscope, did Punnett square genetics, and learned how to decode DNA messages! We are so proud of the Department and OSU community members who are generous with their time supporting this outreach program!
