On July 25th, at their 28th annual Star Award event, Ohio Cancer Research (OCR) conferred the Sanford Goldston Memorial Research Award on Jian-qiu Wu. Ohio Cancer Research is an independent, statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to the cure and prevention of cancer. One of their goals is to provide seed money grants to Ohio researchers performing basic research that may lead to future breakthroughs that will affect cancer diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Wu was awarded a two-year seed money grant by OCR in 2008, and actually had to decline the second year due to being awarded his first NIH grant! Since that time he has been awarded over $3,600,000 in additional grant money from federal and other sources. His recognition with this award is well deserved!
