Molecular Genetics at the 2026 Science Olympiad STEM Expo!
On Saturday April 18, Ohio State University hosted the Ohio Science Olympiad State Tournament, where 80 teams of 6th through 12th graders who excelled in their regional competitions came to compete in >20 STEM events to win a spot in the National tournament. Molecular Genetics hosted a table at the tournament STEM Expo on Friday night and Saturday. We thank undergraduates Josie Astahoff, Sophie Machalec, and Ethan Strock, community outreach specialist Emily Kridel, and faculty member Sharon Amacher for volunteering at the table and the Tang and Simcox labs for supplying embryos and larvae for viewing. Department Chair Susan Cole took part in the awards ceremony on Saturday evening. We were thrilled to meet Ohio’s up-and-coming STEM scholars and their families!
