Molecular Genetics Retreat
On August 22nd the department “retreated” to Hagerty Hall and the Ohio Union for our first all-department retreat centering the research activities of our amazing faculty, staff, and students. With over 100 people in attendance we enjoyed short talks from 24 faculty with a break for a poster session featuring the work of labs and individual trainees.

In the art category:
First Place: “Stitch-mediated Decay” Anuttama Pal, Singh lab
Second Place: “Yin Yang Pollen” Anna Dobritsa and Yuan Zhou, Dobritsa lab
Third Place: “Ocean Eyes" Anna Lubertozzi, Plageman lab
In the poetry category
First place: “Science” Susan Cole, Cole lab
Second place: “I am NMD – No Nonsense, Please” Guramrit Singh, Singh lab
Third place: “Vertebrate-tions” Mahir Mazumder, Amacher lab
At the close of the day we formally welcomed our incoming cohort of graduate students.
We also shared a short movie highlighting the accomplishments of department members over the past year.
Many thanks to everyone who helped with organization and execution, with special thanks to Sharon Amacher for coordinating the art and poem contests and the department staff (Samantha Bragg, Debbie Lipp, Candis Minnear, and Eduardo Acosta) for all their planning and support!
