Molecular Genetics Study Abroad in Norway

Trondbuss participants in Norway 2022

In early May, Dr. Patrice Hamel accompanied a group of OSU students to Norway to take part in a study abroad program at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). While there, students will learn how to conduct analysis on biological samples and how genome sequencing is applied to medical genetics in the context of an university hospital. Students will also learn to question and think critically about the ethical challenges associated with the use of genome sequencing at the clinic. According to one participant "The Trondbuss Molecular Genetics study abroad program has been amazing! I am so grateful for my time spent in Norway so far, and I'm excited for the adventures of the coming weeks as well! Alongside working with clinical lab equipment we do not have back home, I have had the opportunity to experience a fraction of the history and scenery of the country. There is so much to learn and explore!"
