New NIH funding to Sharon Amacher

Sharon Amacher

Congratulations to Sharon Amacher whose MIRA grant entitled "Developmental regulation of oscillatory expression" was recently funded by the NIH.

The MIRA award funds Amacher lab research on biological oscillators, the rhythmic and regular increases and decreases of gene expression that drive many dynamic molecular and morphological processes. They propose to identify novel oscillatory genes involved in regulating segmental pattern and in stem cell maintenance, generate reporters that recapitulate oscillatory expression in real time, and identify the post-transcriptional features and factors that drive the necessary decay phase of the oscillatory cycle.
