Congratulations to Sharon Amacher whose lab recently renewed their NIH R01 funding for their project “Developmental regulation of oscillatory gene expression”, through May 2025. This project explores the role and regulation of a molecular oscillator, the vertebrate segmentation clock, which is critical for the patterning of mesodermal segments. They propose to discover new oscillatory genes, uncover their biological functions, and dissect the post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms that govern oscillatory expression. They anticipate that their work will impact understanding of post-transcriptional mechanisms regulating oscillatory expression in many developmental contexts.
