NIH funding to Chamberlin lab

Helen Chamberlin

Congratulations to Helen Chamberlin, whose grant entitled "Genetic and genomic tools for C. briggsae research" was recently funded by the NIH. Prior work in the Chamberlin lab has identified key differences in gene function and regulation in two nematode species: the commonly studied Caenorhabditis elegans and the related Caenorhabditis briggsae. The funded project, a collaboration between the Chamberlin group and the group of Erik Andersen at Northwestern will develop key tools in C. briggsae that allow direct examination of relationship between DNA sequence conservation and function, facilitating research examining how the genetic and genomic differences between species impact gene function during normal development and in disrupted conditions, such as disease states.

Congratulations to Helen and her lab!
