NSF funding to Shujun Ou

Shujun Ou

Congratulations to Shujun Ou, who is a funded co-PI on a recently awarded NSF grant entitled "The Gamete to Zygote Transition of the Plant Epigenome". Working with collaborators at UC Davis (Venkatesan Sundaresan) and the University of Georgia (Jonathan Gent), Dr Ou's lab will investigate the epigenetic changes occurring during plant gamete formation and zygote development. Utilizing state-of-the-art technologies, the research will focus on mapping the epigenetic marks in the model plant Arabidopsis and extend these findings to rice. This study aims to bridge a critical gap in our understanding of plant reproduction and has the potential to revolutionize applications in crop plant propagation, including asexual reproduction and clonal propagation. The insights gained from this research could lead to significant advancements in agricultural biotechnology, enhancing crop yields and sustainability.
