NSF Graduate Research Fellowship to Paolo Sinopoli
Congratulations to Paolo Sinopoli, who recently learned he was awarded a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation. Paolo is a senior in Molecular Genetics, and during his time here he has been an undergraduate researcher with Dr. Anita Hopper, contributing to two publications describing novel roles for tRNA introns in gene regulation. Somehow, he also managed to take part in summer internships at Scripps Research and at the National Cancer Institute. He has been recognized with several other awards including a Pelotonia Research Fellowship and the Barry Goldwater Scholarship.
The highly prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship was established in 1952, to encourage basic scientific research and ensure comprehensive, competitive research programs for U.S. students. It provides three years of support for graduate research to some of the most talented young scientists in the country. After graduation, Paolo will start a Ph.D. Program at MIT.
