Patrice Hamel earns funding to support international education

Patrice Hamel

Congratulations to Dr. Patrice Hamel who received funding from University of Paris-Saclay (France) to develop new initiatives for international research and science between the French Institution and the department of Molecular Genetics. The funding provides financial support for travel and in-country living costs for a one month stay in France. Dr. Hamel will visit the University of Paris-Saclay during Fall 2023 and continue his efforts to provide paid research internship opportunities to undergraduates in life sciences.

Dr. Hamel is the mastermind behind the Trondheim:Columbus exchange program (TRONDBUSS) which has served 65 students to date supported by approximately $175,000 of extramural and intramural funding from the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (DIKU), the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Molecular Genetics, and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry at The Ohio State University. He also has a long history of projects that broaden participation in the sciences, including educational outreach for migrant high schoolers, and  a global diversity, equity and inclusion summer series called "The Colors of Health", among others.

We are so proud of our colleague for his commitment to international education!
