President’s Research Excellence Accelerator Grant to Amanda Burd and Colleagues

Congratulations to Amanda Bird who is a co-investigator on a recently awarded President's Research Excellence Accelerator Award entitled "Novel role for iron homeostasis in air pollution driven susceptibility to pulmonary infections". These awards support small teams formed to pursue curiosity-driven, novel, high-risk and high-reward research..
Dr. Bird PI will collaborate with Lead PI Kymberly Gowdy (College of Medicine) to evaluate whether increases in iron in the lungs following pollution exposure drives increased inflammation during pulmonary infections.
We are delighted for Amanda!
