Congratulations to Dave Bisaro who is the Principal Investigator on a recently awarded Accelerator Grant from the 2022 President's Research Excellence program entitled "Targeting Ethylene Signaling to Condition Crop Resistance to Geminiviruses". Together with collaborators Adriana Dawes (Molecular Genetics and Math) and Dave Mackey (Horticulture and Crop Science and Molecular Genetics), Dr. Bisaro will address issues related to crop losses caused by geminiviruses, which exacerbate the global issue of food security. By elucidating mechanisms by which the plant hormone, ethylene, conditions geminivirus resistance, and interacts with other host defense pathways, this project will inform rational strategies to build resistant plants.
