Rene Arvola Awarded K99/R00 grant

Rene Arvola

Congratulations to Dr. Rene Arvola, postdoctoral fellow in the Singh and Amacher labs, who recently was awarded an NIGMS/NIH K99 grant via the MOSAIC program!

Her grant, entitled Investigating UPF3 paralog function in Nonsense-Mediated mRNA Decay and Genetic Compensation will investigate the biological roles and molecular functions of UPF3, a disease-linked core nonsense-mediated mRNA decay factor, in both human cells and zebrafish development. She seeks to understand how UPF3-activated NMD and transcriptional regulation is modulated, and to elucidate connections between mRNA decay and transcriptional regulation.

Congratulations to Rene and her mentors!
