Sharon Amacher wins OSU Engagement Award
We are pleased to announce that Sharon Amacher was awarded a 2024 Community Engaged Scholar Award for her engagement efforts on behalf of the Molecular Genetics Department. The award particularly recognizes her efforts in establishing and running the Columbus BioEYES program. Every Autumn, she brings zebrafish into elementary school classrooms to engage students in an interactive, week-long experiment, and each spring, she invites BioEYES "grads" to campus for more engaging, hands-on activities. In 2023, she offered BioEYES as an undergraduate service-learning course for the first time. Since 2019, BioEYES has reached more than 700 Columbus 4th and 5th graders.
We are so grateful for Sharon's unwavering commitment to outreach!
