Congratulations to Susan Cole, who was named one of the 2017 recipients of the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. Susan was nominated by colleagues and by current and former students. Her nominators spoke eloquently of her passion for teaching and highlighted her supportive classroom that encourages independent thought and turns students into active learners. Susan was notified of the award when a large group including her family, current students, Dean Manderscheid, and Provost McPheron invaded a department faculty meeting. Susan says it was the "best faculty meeting ever!"  This award recognizes a maximum of ten faculty each year for their teaching excellence, and winners are inducted into the Academy of Teaching.
