Welcome New Faculty in Molecular Genetics

As the academic year begins, we want to welcome three new faculty to the department.

Dr. Ambro van Hoof joins us as Professor and Ohio Eminent Scholar. Prior to joining the department, Ambro was a Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. His research has focused on RNA turnover in budding yeast, plants, and mammalian cells/diseases. His most recent studies have focused on mRNA turnover in yeast by the exosome and, surprisingly, also by the mitochondrial-localized tRNA splicing endonuclease. His scholarship has been recognized by his election for PEW Scholars membership.

Dr. Michelle McWhorter joins us as Assistant Teaching Professor. Michelle earned her Ph.D. at OSU. Prior to joining the department, Michelle was an Associate Professor at Wittenberg University, where she served as the Program Director in Neuroscience.

Dr. Melissa Petreaca earned her Ph.D. at the University of California at Riverside. She has held faculty and lecturer positions at several colleges and Universities, including being an Associate Professor at DePauw University. Most recently she served as Senior Lecturer at OSU Marion.
